He is the author of the widely used Elementary Number Theory and Its Applications, published by Pearson, currently in its sixth edition, which has been translated into Chinese. Discrete Mathematics and Its Applications has sold more than , copies in North America during its lifetime, and hundreds of thousands of copies throughout the rest of the world. These books have sold more than , copies, with translations into Chinese, German, Spanish, and Italian.
Rosen is also the editor of the Handbook of Discrete and Combinatorial Mathematics, published by CRC Press, and he is the advisory editor of the CRC series of books in discrete mathematics, consisting of more than 55 volumes on different aspects of discrete mathematics, most of which are introduced in this book.
Rosen serves as an Associate Editor for the journal Discrete Mathematics, where he works with submitted papers in several areas of discrete mathematics, including graph theory, enumeration, and number theory. He is also interested in integrating mathematical software into the educational and professional environments, and worked on several projects with Waterloo Maple Inc.
Rosen has also worked with several publishing companies on their homework delivery platforms. Rosen worked on a wide range of projects, including operations research studies, product line planning for computers and data communications equipment, and technology assessment.
He also invented many new services, and holds more than 55 patents. She is currently a professor working in the area of Theoretical Computer Science, especially Formal Language Theory and its applications and Unconventional Models of Computing. She also received her PhD from the same place in for her work on Array Grammars. Thereafter, she joined IIT Madras in in the Computer Science and Engineering Department called Computer Center at that time as a research associate, became a full-time professor in and held the post of Chairperson of the department during — She has been associated with researches in the field of Formal Languages and Automata Theory for more than 35 years; her contributions being in the area of array grammars, graph grammars, L-systems, DNA computing and membrane computing.
She has also been involved with computational geometry for several years having hands-on experience on optimization problems and path planning problems.
She has taught courses on and related to Discrete Mathematical Structures and Theory of Computation numerous times for undergraduate and graduate students at IIT Madras. Krithivasan has guided many PhD students and also, has carried out many sponsored projects and partnered with teams from Germany and Israel on collaborative projects.
She has more than 70 publications in international journals and more than 80 publications in conferences. She visited the University of Maryland during the fellowship period, Concordia University, for six months in and MPI, Saarbrucken, Germany, for short periods in and Dr Krithivasan was awarded the Fulbright Fellowship in
